2009 STaC Week:
November
2 (Monday) - November 8

STaC
Explained
Plan now to play
in your local club in District 8's twice annual Sectional-Tournament-at-Clubs
(STAC). All club games that week can award sectional silver
points to winners and runners-up in all three flights.
Masterpoint
awards: The STAC event offers 12 different sessions
-- a day and an evening session on each weekday, plus day
only sessions on Saturday and Sunday. In addition to the silver-point
section awards at each site, each session will be scored across
the District for overall awards.
Stratification
: Open Pair games will have three strata — A:
1500+; B: 0-1500; and
C: Non-Life Master (0-500). Clubs can also
run stratified novice pairs and victory-point team games.
Entry fees:
Sanction fee to the club is $6 per table, so expect
to pay an extra $1.50 over your club's regular entry fee.
Proceeds help fund the Advocate newsletter ,
the District finals of the North American Pairs and Grand
National Teams, and other District 8 activities. And it is
still less expensive than a "weekend Sectional."
Online results
: District-wide results from each session will
be updated on the STAC website.
Game sites:
Call your club manager for details on the STaC games
in your area.

Conditions
of Contest:
1.
12 events, 2 events each of Monday through Friday
- (1
day side& 1 evening), plus 1 event each of Saturday
day side and Sunday day side, will be held.
- Results
submitted for a Saturday or Sunday evening game will be
returned.
- All
events are stratified open
pairs or swiss teams:
- A:
open B: <1500 masterpoints C: NLM <500 masterpoint
- Any
game file not rated correctly will be corrected by
the DIC. The minimum number of pairs in direct competition
at your club for the lowest strata level to award
section masterpoints is two. All pairs at each club
will be eligible for the overall awards regardless
of the number of pairs in your game.
- When
scoring your game, do NOT ask for overall results.
Overall results are done ONLY by the DIC! For swiss
team events, you may enable overall ranking.
- No
player may play in a game that will cause his/her
name to be entered in any event more than once. The
DIC will use the 1st game played to select the entered
game.
2.Each
club field must be seeded as
much as possible.
3.
All open games will be eligible for District 8 overall awards.
- Invitational
games will be handled as single-session side games.
- Limited
masterpoint games will be scored and ranked as stand-alone
events unless a similar limited game is held during the
same playing session.
- If
you hold a limited masterpoint game during STaC week, please
make every attempt to coordinate with other clubs so fields
can be properly combined.
- Invitational
games may be OPENED if you wish to participate in overall
awards.
- Swiss
games get a full rating with each swiss site scored and
ranked separately.
4.
All masterpoints awarded will be silver.
5.
Disputes/rulings
not handled at the club level will be handled by the DIC where
all rulings are final. The DIC will be available by telephone
during and immediately after each session for that session.
6.
The club manager is responsible for reporting game results
to the DIC within 36 hours after
the game is over.
- Taking
time for a correction period and game auditing is encouraged.
- Reporting
game results can be done by:
a.
emailing to the DIC a backup copy of the ACBLScore game
file
b.
phoning the DIC with game results
- If
your club uses ACBLScore, then emailing a backup copy of
the ACBLScore game file is required.
- When
creating your game file, use the sanction number displayed
on the first page of this document.
- The
subject of the email needs to have District 8, Unit 143,
and your club number.
- The
club level correction period is over as soon as the game
file is sent to the DIC or results are reported to the DIC.
Only 1 game file is to be sent to the DIC. Replacement game
file submissions will be rejected by the DIC.
- Final
standings for each event will be posted on the web site
36 hours after the end of each event. Since standings will
be published promptly after each event, players, directors,
and club managers are NOT to phone the DIC nor the event
coordinator for status. Final standings for each event will
be posted on the web site as soon as possible after the
end of the 36 hours reporting period. At the end of the
week's events, a masterpoint race total for the week will
be prepared and posted on the web site.
Practice
email messages to the DIC during prior to STaC week are encouraged.
Email any backup game file to the DIC. The DIC will inspect
the file sent and reply by email if the file is ok or if an
additional practice message is needed. Each emailed game file
will receive an emailed response when the game file is processed.
7.
The sanction fee is $6 per table; $1.50 per player above the
regular club entry fee.
Clubs
in: Northern Indiana unit 154, Central Illinois unit 208,
Southern IL/Paducah unit 223 are not to be concerned about
the sanction fee since their respective units will pay the
sanction fees. Each
other club manager is to mail a check by the Wednesday following
the last event of the week, made out to "District 8 STaC"
for the total sanction fees for all sessions held during the
week. All payments are to be sent
to the event coordinator (NOT the DIC!). Delinquent
payments are NOT condoned! If any payment cannot be made by
the cutoff, prior arrangements with the event coordinator
MUST be made.
8.
Club managers are encouraged to hold a STaC week game during
regularly sanctioned game time periods. Plus, club managers
may hold as many additional games during the week at any time
as they wish. No special sanction is required.
